Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Annual Prom Queens Project Dress Giveaway Event. Please read the following instructions carefully.

 

Select your volunteer role:  We have several volunteer roles available.  Please review ALL roles using the list below.  When you are ready to sign-up, go to the Volunteer Registration page and provide the required information.  If you wish to sign up for both days, your sign-up information will not auto-fill for the subsequent day and you will need to register for the additional day separately.    

 

Important Notes:​

  • Volunteers for giveaway event shifts on Saturday must be women and out of high school.

  • Volunteers must wear all black and comfortable shoes.

  • All volunteers will be required to fill out and sign a waiver.

Set-Up Volunteer:

Set-Up volunteers assist with the overall set-up for the annual giveaway event.

Volunteers will help to unload gowns, organize them by size and color and set up the event space. These shifts are a great opportunity for those unable to volunteer for our giveaway event shifts (young women not out of high school and men of all ages).

Reception & Check-In Volunteer:

Volunteers in Reception & Check-In areas greet girls and volunteers as they arrive, direct traffic and answer questions, facilitate volunteer check-in, hand out wristbands, and oversee "Waiting area" and Boutique entrance. Volunteers must be women out of high school.

Personal Shopper:

Personal Shoppers work directly with young women to help them make dress selections. Dresses are organized by size and color and each young lady will shop with a personal shopper. Volunteers must be women out of high school.

 

Responsibilities:

- Greet each guest and provide as much/little assistance as she would like. Ideally, we would like you to work with the young woman (or group of young women) from dress selection to checkout.

- Offer to hold gowns for them and/or take them into the fitting room.

- Help the young women select a gown as quickly as possible.

- Return unselected gowns to fitting room "Return Racks" as quickly as possible, so they can be returned to the boutique area.

Alterations & Sewing Volunteer:

Volunteers for this role should be capable of basic alterations and sewing and must arrive with equipment and materials needed for this role. Volunteers must be women out of high school.


Tasks include:

- Machine sewing. Responsible for all alterations made by machine, advice on fit, ideas about how to address specific problems and suggestions on style or accessories.

- Hand sewing. Responsible for items such as hooks-n-eyes, snaps and quick seam/hem fixes that can be done by hand.

- Pressing, steam cleaning and spot cleaning may be additional duties.

Accessories Area Volunteer:

Volunteers in our Accessories area help young women find an accessory to compliment their dress. Accessories include jewelry, wraps, make-up, shoes and purses. Volunteers must be women out of high school.

Dress Return/Fitting Room Volunteer:

Volunteers are responsible for the formal dresses, ensuring that they are properly hung, tagged, sized and returned to appropriate rack location. Volunteers also provide assistance in the fitting rooms.Volunteers must be women out of high school.

Check-Out Area Volunteer:

Volunteers work in our Check-Out area, bagging dresses and assisting girls as they leave the giveaway event.

​

Tear-Down Volunteer:

Tear-Down volunteers assist with the overall tear-down of the event.

 

These shifts are a great opportunity for those unable to volunteer for our event shifts (young women not out of high school and men of all ages).  Volunteers help load gowns and clear out materials used in the event space.
